Job Title: Sustainability Associate - Packaging

About the Role

Join ALDI’s National Projects team and play a key role in driving sustainability and packaging initiatives at one of the nation’s leading grocers. As a Sustainability Associate - Packaging, you’ll support impactful projects focused on environmental responsibility, including How2Recycle labeling and packaging sustainability. This position offers the opportunity to make a measurable difference in how ALDI operates and how our customers shop—ensuring our practices align with ALDI’s broader Corporate Responsibility goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support packaging sustainability initiatives and the How2Recycle labeling process.

  • Assist in the development and execution of Corporate Responsibility reporting, including benchmarking and action plans.

  • Provide administrative support, including data entry, word processing, and document organization.

  • Research and monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging best practices in Corporate Responsibility and sustainability.

  • Act as a liaison between the Buying department and Corporate Responsibility team.

  • Coordinate and track project deliverables, maintain timelines, and follow up with key stakeholders.

  • Prepare and distribute project documentation, including meeting minutes and action items.

  • Recommend process improvements and contribute to ongoing project optimization.

  • Ensure confidentiality of sensitive documents and information.

Job Requirements

  • Education: Associate's Degree in Business, Economics, Sustainability, or a related field (required); Bachelor's preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; ability to research, analyze, and summarize data.

  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Organizational Skills: Strong attention to detail, effective time management, and ability to multitask.

  • Collaboration: Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams.

  • Adaptability: Flexibility to manage changing priorities and assignments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Corporate Responsibility or sustainability initiatives.

  • Familiarity with packaging standards, sustainability practices, and reporting frameworks.

Compensation

  • Starting Salary: $95,000

  • Year 2 Salary: $100,000

  • Year 3 Salary: $105,000
