Job Description

Do you enjoy solving complex, high-impact problems using data, intelligence, and cutting-edge technology? Are you passionate about creating exceptional user experiences powered by privacy-preserving machine learning? At Apple, we don’t just build products — we craft experiences that revolutionize industries and enrich lives. Join us and be part of a collaborative, innovative team that thrives on tackling big challenges while having fun along the way.

The Strategic Data Solutions (SDS) and iOS Intelligence teams at Apple are seeking a highly motivated Machine Learning Software Engineer to help shape the future of intelligent, proactive, and personalized experiences across iOS and Apple platforms. Our work spans end-to-end system development — from predictive modeling and real-time decision-making to on-device intelligence and user experience — impacting everything from fraud detection and system optimization to personalizing notifications and app predictions for millions of users.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with stakeholders across Apple to translate ambiguous business and technical challenges into scalable, data-driven solutions.

  • Design and develop end-to-end machine learning pipelines, including data collection, model training, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring.

  • Implement software and frameworks that deliver real-time, on-device intelligence while ensuring user privacy and optimal performance.

  • Build and maintain robust systems and decision engines that operate at scale in both batch and real-time environments.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovative, user-facing features that enhance the core iOS experience.

  • Investigate and respond to emerging trends or system anomalies with agility and precision.

  • Share best practices and drive improvements in data science, software engineering, and system architecture within your team and beyond.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduate degree (Master’s or PhD) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Statistics, or related field OR equivalent professional experience.

  • Proven experience in deploying machine learning solutions in real-world applications, with proficiency in Python, Scala, Java, or similar languages.

  • Strong foundation in computer science fundamentals, data structures, and software engineering best practices.

  • Ability to work with large, complex codebases and a strong understanding of performance trade-offs (CPU, memory, I/O) in resource-constrained environments.

  • Experience working with SQL or similar querying languages for data extraction and analysis.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, business-focused outcomes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Deep theoretical understanding of machine learning algorithms, including generative models and large language models (LLMs).

  • Experience with UI development, design, or prototyping on mobile platforms.

  • Familiarity with mobile or embedded development, especially in Swift, Objective-C, or C.

  • Demonstrated ability to think holistically about systems, anticipating the technical, business, and customer impact of design choices.

  • Passion for user experience and privacy, especially in building on-device intelligence that empowers users.

Compensation and Benefits

At Apple, your base pay is only part of the total compensation package. The base salary for this role ranges from $147,400 to $272,100, based on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

You will also be eligible for:

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and retirement benefits.

  • Educational reimbursement for advancing your career.
