The Services Products Data Science & Digital Engineering organization is looking for a Data Scientist and Technical Architect to help drive innovation in content strategy, user engagement, system design, and product optimization. This hybrid role combines deep data science expertise with technical systems architecture skills, playing a key role in shaping the tools, services, and insights that fuel Apple’s global success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide data-driven insights to guide decision-making across product, content, and business teams.

  • Analyze how users discover and engage with Apple Services content and subscription offerings.

  • Define and develop new data products and system interfaces to support feature and content launches.

  • Collaborate across engineering and product teams to define and maintain scalable, privacy-preserving system architectures.

  • Design, implement, and evaluate A/B tests and experimentation strategies to improve user experience and business outcomes.

  • Build and deploy machine learning models to optimize products and services, including classification, segmentation, and forecasting models.

  • Partner with business leaders to influence product strategy, prioritize features, and shape roadmaps.

  • Lead system design initiatives, ensuring scalability, performance, and seamless customer experiences.

  • Document and communicate technical specifications, including APIs, system interfaces, and user stories.

  • Facilitate clear communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders, including senior leadership.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field.

  • 7+ years of experience in software engineering, data science, or technical architecture roles.

  • Proficient in Python and SQL for data analysis, model development, and large-scale data processing.

  • Skilled in designing and executing experiments, including A/B testing and statistical analysis.

  • Experience designing distributed systems, REST APIs, and microservices for scale and performance.

  • Strong problem-solving skills, with a focus on translating complex business problems into technical solutions.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work across diverse teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s or PhD in a related field.

  • Experience with causal inference techniques and advanced statistical modeling.

  • Familiarity with distributed computing frameworks like Spark.

  • Proficiency in designing data pipelines and performance monitoring tools.

  • Experience in the media, entertainment, or music industry.

  • Familiarity with machine learning techniques including regression, classification, clustering, and NLP.

  • Passion for Apple’s services, including film, television, and music.

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is only one part of our total compensation package. Our approach allows employees to grow and be rewarded as they develop their skills and contribute to Apple’s mission.

  • Base pay range: $163,300 to $318,400 (depending on skills, experience, and location).

  • Eligibility for Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs, including restricted stock unit (RSU) awards and stock purchase plans.
