Benefits and Job Description

DSP Job Description:

  • Provide direct support to individuals with Intellectual Disabilities
  • Be able to work as a team member, follow directions, and agree to supervision by Residential Advisor
  • Be able to carry out the mission and support the values of the Emmaus Community
  • To enter into respectful and meaningful relationships with the residents
  • Menu planning, grocery shopping, meal preparation (special diets must be followed)
  • Medication administration
  • Assist with medical appointments
  • Assist with personal hygiene
  • Help to develop and carry out goals/outcomes and implement ISPs as written; appropriate documentation
  • Attend staff meetings as required
  • Participate in Community celebrations such as birthday parties and holidays
  • Maintain compliance with all State and County mandated regulations
  • To plan and provide residents with opportunities for socialization and recreation both at home and out in the community
  • Helps with the upkeep and maintenance of the home and the residents rooms and belongings
  • Conducts and records monthly fire drills
  • Assists residents with money management, and follows strict policies on protecting and safeguarding client and agency funds
  • All DSPs are cross trained at least one other Emmaus location

Benefits Rate Details:

If electing to use insurance provided by Emmaus, the following is the amount the employee is responsible to contribute per paycheck (26 pays per year). The employee contribution is based on the level of coverage that is elected for the medical plan. Dental and Vision insurance continue to be offered for all levels of coverage at no additional cost to the employee. Emmaus also covers 100% of the cost for all full time employees to have a $25,000 Life Insurance Policy, Short Term Disability Insurance and Long Term Disability Insurance.

Employee Costs for UPMC EPO:

Employee Only..................... $50.00 per pay

Employee & Child(ren)...........$144.00 per pay

Employee & Spouse...............$187.50 per pay

Family Coverage....................$195.00 per pay
