Job Summary

As an Associate Professional Software Engineer at DXC, you will play a key role in supporting software development projects by performing systems modeling, simulation, and analysis. You will work closely with senior engineers to design, develop, and maintain software solutions that effectively meet client business needs. This is an excellent opportunity for an entry-level professional to grow technical skills in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform systems modeling, simulation, and analysis to design and develop appropriate software solutions aligned with client business requirements, under moderate guidance and supervision.

  • Assist in documenting new and existing software programs, ensuring comprehensive and accessible documentation for internal and client use.

  • Collaborate with hardware and software teams to design, troubleshoot, and analyze software programs that interact with hardware components.

  • Customize purchased software applications as per customer needs and maintain program libraries and manuals.

  • Monitor software and hardware status and provide regular feedback and reports to management to ensure optimal performance and availability.

  • Provide first-level hands-on technical support to customers, escalating issues when necessary.

  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging to ensure high-quality software delivery.

  • Support the implementation of software development methodologies and best practices within the team.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Entry-level experience; ability to perform routine assignments with a growing understanding of software engineering principles.

  • Conceptual knowledge of software engineering theories, practices, and procedures acquired through formal education or equivalent work experience.

Preferred Skills and Competencies

  • Basic analytical and problem-solving abilities to assist in the design, creation, and testing of software solutions.

  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate and collaborate with customers, team members, and support personnel.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to document work and interact with stakeholders.

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team in a dynamic environment.

  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Java, C++, Python, or others, and experience with software development tools and environments.

  • Understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
