Job Overview
Xanadu Builders is seeking a reliable and hands-on Entry-level Shop Assistant to support our growing operations in Elgin, IL. In this vital role, you'll be responsible for managing materials, tools, equipment, and deliveries to ensure our field teams have everything they need to succeed. From keeping the shop organized to building custom shipping crates, this position offers variety and ownership of a key support function within our company.

Key Responsibilities
  • Organize and maintain the shop, storage facilities, and company vehicles.
  • Receive, inspect, and stock incoming tools, materials, and equipment.
  • Prepare and stage materials for upcoming projects.
  • Safely load, unload, and transport deliveries.
  • Build and fabricate basic shipping crates when needed.
  • Deliver materials to job sites and pick up supplies from vendors using company vehicles (including a box truck).
  • Track and manage inventory using basic software or mobile tools.
  • Support additional operational needs as part of a small, collaborative team.

Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in construction, warehouse, or a related field (preferred but not required).
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; experience driving a box truck preferred.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 70 lbs. regularly.
  • Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and basic shop equipment.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.
  • Basic computer or mobile device skills for inventory and communication.
