Position Summary

FedEx Office is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) Advisor to join our OmniChannel Team, driving the future vision for FedEx Retail Online Services. This critical role ensures framework stability, system resilience, and the continued growth of our print omnichannel services. Failure to fill this role puts the reliability and future scalability of our platform at significant risk.

This position requires a strategic, future-oriented engineer with a strong background in both infrastructure reliability and full-stack application development, capable of managing system performance and availability at scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and support enterprise-scale reliability solutions aligned with business strategy and goals.

  • Drive strategic planning and reliability improvement initiatives, including capacity planning, failover strategies, and reduction of Mean Time to Awareness/Resolve (MTTA/MTTR).

  • Collaborate with architects and agile teams to ensure system scalability, reliability, and latency optimization across all applications.

  • Conduct detailed system performance reviews, code reviews, and ensure alignment with FedEx Enterprise Foundational Services standards.

  • Implement and manage observability and monitoring tools (e.g., Splunk, AppDynamics, New Relic), ensuring proactive issue detection.

  • Standardize logging and error handling across applications to support efficient monitoring and debugging.

  • Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers and drive adoption of best practices in site reliability engineering.

  • Liaise with business architects to plan, design, and implement IP-based call center solutions, integrating third-party APIs and ensuring smooth data flow.

  • Debug and analyze IP signaling traffic (SIP headers, Wireshark logs) for voice and data networks, optimizing convergence of telephony platforms.

  • Ensure security, reliability, and performance through cloud-native development, following 12-Factor App principles and Agile (SAFe) methodologies.

  • Manage stakeholders across global time zones (India & US), providing transparent communication and managing escalation points effectively.

Skills & Knowledge Considered a Plus

  • Proficiency in programming: Java, PHP, JavaScript, SQL

  • Experience with Relational Databases: Oracle, MySQL

  • Expertise in Linux OS, Cloud Architecture (IaaS/PaaS/SaaS), and Microservices

  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools: GitHub, Jenkins

  • Experience with Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Spring Data JPA

  • Networking knowledge and experience with automation for deployment and testing

  • Strong understanding of API-first philosophy, data flows, and third-party integrations

  • Excellent problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills

  • Ability to work in a 24x7 global environment

Mandatory Technical Expertise

  • Cisco (CCIE/CCNP/CCDP certification preferred)

  • Genesys

  • IVR / IVA platforms

  • IP-based telephony systems

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, MIS, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

  • Minimum 5 years experience in infrastructure reliability and performance management at scale

  • 12-15 years total IT experience (for senior candidates) in application development and systems engineering

  • Prior experience working in Agile teams and familiarity with SAFe preferred

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced certifications (e.g., CCIE, CCNP)

  • Experience working in cloud-native environments

  • Exposure to omnichannel customer experiences, especially in the logistics or e-commerce sector
