Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled, experienced, and driven professional to join our team as a Cloud Security Architect / Enterprise Geodata Manager. In this dual-capacity role, you will lead the development, implementation, and governance of cloud security architecture while also managing enterprise-wide GIS databases and geospatial data infrastructure. Your role will ensure the secure, scalable, and efficient operation of H-E-B’s digital and geospatial platforms.

Key Responsibilities

Cloud Security Architecture

  • Serve as subject matter expert on cloud security, driving defense-in-depth strategies and best practices.

  • Design and implement scalable, secure cloud solutions for hybrid and cloud-first models.

  • Lead testing and evaluation of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) to ensure adherence to H-E-B security policies.

  • Develop and maintain security infrastructure as code using Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, etc.

  • Identify vulnerabilities and enforce compliance with frameworks (ISO27001, NIST, SOC 2, PCI DSS, HIPAA).

  • Guide internal teams on secure architecture design, threat modeling, and security automation.

  • Collaborate with external vendors and stakeholders to align with H-E-B’s cloud security strategy.

  • Maintain documentation for cloud security architecture, controls, and procedures.

Enterprise Geodata Management

  • Administer ArcGIS Enterprise Geodatabases, ensuring accurate, current, and secure spatial datasets.

  • Design, optimize, and maintain geospatial data architecture using MSSQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle.

  • Coordinate software installations, upgrades, and patches for geospatial systems.

  • Collaborate with data stewards, analytics, and data science teams for ETL automation and advanced analytics.

  • Mentor team members on GIS best practices, data standards, and spatial data management.

  • Ensure compliance with security, metadata, and data governance standards.

  • Innovate and modernize GIS capabilities, integrating with cloud infrastructure and data lakes (e.g., Databricks).

Qualifications

Required

  • 7+ years designing and implementing complex enterprise solutions.

  • 5+ years working in public/hybrid cloud environments; 3+ years in information security roles.

  • Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, and/or GCP, including security features and best practices.

  • Strong coding skills in Python, JavaScript, PowerShell, or shell scripting.

  • Experience with IaC tools: Terraform, CloudFormation, Pulumi, ARM Templates, Ansible.

  • Solid understanding of network and application security principles, protocols, and firewalls.

  • Working knowledge of geospatial technologies: ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcPy, and spatial databases.

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies, cross-functional teams, and project management workflows.

  • Proficiency in SQL, GIS data design, and geospatial ETL automation.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, GIS, or related field; Master’s a plus.

  • Certifications in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and security (CISSP, GIAC, CEH, etc.).

  • Esri certifications (Enterprise Geodata Management, System Design, or Administration).

  • Experience with CSPM/CNAPP tools, secrets management, and vulnerability detection platforms.

  • Familiarity with data lakes (e.g., Databricks), NoSQL databases, and APIs (REST, JSON, XML).

  • Strong communication skills, technical writing ability, and mentoring experience.

Working Conditions

  • Travel occasionally required (car or air).

  • Must be able to work extended hours with digital technologies.

  • Remote work with preference for candidates located in or near Texas.
