UAC supplies aircraft manufacturers and their subcontractors worldwide and has served the aircraft industry for over four decades. <br><br><strong>GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:</strong><br><br>Under minimal supervision, this position is responsible for:<br><ul> <li>Design of forming dies, machining fixtures, and gages.</li> <li>R&D for customer requirements.</li> <li>Process design and support.</li> <li>Machine design, automation, selection, and implementation.</li></ul><br>As part of the Engineering team, this position will collaborate with others for tooling design, and participate in the follow-up on manufacturing processes to review safety, quality, and productivity. Makes final drawings and models in CAD to Charles Engineering standards, and is responsible for pre-sale drawings and reviews, tooling/setup prints, and secondary tooling. <br><br>This position reports directly to the Engineering Manager or designee.<br><br><strong>EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS:</strong><br><br>This position will occasionally:<br><ul> <li>Communicate with customers to resolve design issues.</li> <li>Work with outside vendors. </li></ul><br><strong>PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</strong><br><ul> <li>Works in collaboration with all production, quality, and sales departments</li> <li>Acquire knowledge to provide roll form technical support in die and fixture designs. </li> <li>Ability to shift priorities based on internal and external customer needs </li> <li>Regular independent use of 2D and 3D CAD systems (Solidworks, Catia, and AutoCAD) with a high skill-level</li></ul><br><strong>QUALIFICATIONS:</strong><br><ol> <li>EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering</li> <li>EXPERIENCE: 10+ years of relevant experience working in manufacturing (Aerospace experience not required) </li> <li>COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Good oral and written communication skills are required </li> <li>ANALYTICAL SKILLS: Algebra, Trigonometry, Physics and Statistical Analysis</li> <li>REASONING SKILLS: Ability to interpret customer drawings, notes, tolerances, and specifications</li> <li>TRAVEL: Minimal </li> <li>PHYSICAL DEMANDS: <ol> <li>Able to lift 50 lbs. occasionally</li> <li>Sit or stand for long periods of time</li> <li>Ability to perform computer work for long periods of time</li> </ol> </li></ol><br><strong>Safety: </strong><br><br>All UAC employees must know and follow job safety procedures, attend required health and safety training, proactively promote safety at work, and promptly report actual and potential accidents and injuries.<br><br><strong>Equal Opportunity and Reasonable Accommodation: </strong><br><br>UAC is an equal opportunity employer.
