About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Product Manager to join our Growth Insights and Foundations Data Engineering team. This team plays a critical role in optimizing real-time customer experiences across commerce, identity flows, and beyond by ensuring the availability of high-quality, low-latency data. In this role, you’ll collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and cross-functional partners to build data products that power algorithms and machine learning models. Your work will directly impact how we engage with current and future Netflix members.

What You'll Do

  • Drive the development and execution of data product strategies that support real-time, in-the-moment customer experiences.

  • Collaborate closely with data engineers, data scientists, and other technical stakeholders to define product requirements and deliver scalable data solutions.

  • Ensure the timely availability of high-quality, reliable, and accessible data to optimize Netflix product experiences.

  • Build and maintain distributed data systems and services, emphasizing reliability, observability, and scalability.

  • Translate business needs into technical solutions, maintaining a strong product mindset while understanding data engineering fundamentals.

  • Own the end-to-end lifecycle of the data products you manage, including design, implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement.

About You

  • Technical Proficiency: You are skilled in at least one major programming language (preferably JVM-based such as Java or Scala) and SQL (any variant). You can write elegant, maintainable code and are comfortable learning new technologies.

  • Data Expertise: You possess strong data intuition and can apply analytical thinking and engineering fundamentals to build robust data products.

  • Distributed Systems Experience: You have hands-on experience with large-scale distributed data processing frameworks such as Spark or Flink, and are familiar with real-time and batch processing.

  • Service-Oriented Architecture: You are well-versed in building APIs and services using frameworks like Spring and transport protocols including gRPC.

  • Operational Excellence: You design for high availability and scalability, ensuring systems are easy to monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot. You prioritize observability with comprehensive logging, monitoring, and alerting.

  • Ownership and Agility: You take full ownership of your work, from design to deployment and maintenance. You thrive in fast-paced, agile environments and can adapt quickly to changing priorities.

  • Collaborative Mindset: You work effectively with cross-functional teams, including product management, data science, and engineering, with a strong focus on business needs and outcomes.

Compensation & Benefits

Netflix offers a unique compensation structure based solely on an annual salary, with flexibility in choosing how much you receive in cash vs. stock options each year. We determine compensation using market indicators, considering your role, experience, skills, and background.

  • Salary Range: $170,000 – $720,000
