About the Role

As the Lead Performance Manager – Social, you will drive the development and execution of strategic social media initiatives designed to strengthen Target’s brand, deepen guest engagement, and achieve measurable business outcomes. This role sits within Target Marketing and Social, with a focus on Social Performance and Insights.

You will be responsible for delivering comprehensive social media performance reports, refining key performance indicators (KPIs), synthesizing multi-platform data, and translating guest behaviors into actionable strategies. Additionally, you will partner with internal teams—such as Social Engagement, Commerce, Digital, Paid Media, and Guest Insights—to inform and shape enterprise-wide social efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Target’s social media reporting and measurement strategy across platforms.

  • Translate business goals and guest insights into actionable and scalable social strategies.

  • Synthesize data from platforms such as Facebook Insights, TikTok Analytics, and internal tools into compelling, data-driven narratives.

  • Evaluate and redefine KPIs; integrate these into ongoing performance routines to ensure continuous improvement.

  • Deliver enterprise-level social media reporting to senior leadership with insights on brand reputation, guest sentiment, and campaign performance.

  • Collaborate with content strategists across campaign lifecycles to support data-backed decision-making.

  • Implement process improvements, reporting enhancements, and tool upgrades to optimize social strategy.

  • Present strategic narratives to gain stakeholder buy-in, including marketing leaders and external partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Digital Media, Communications, or a related field.

  • 8+ years of strategic marketing experience, ideally within social or digital media.

  • Demonstrated success in developing and executing strategic social media marketing initiatives.

  • Advanced proficiency in analytics and visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Domo, Adobe).

  • Experience with social media analytics tools (e.g., Facebook Insights, TikTok Analytics).

  • Proficiency in A/B testing methods, reporting, and campaign optimization.

  • Strong storytelling, critical thinking, and data synthesis skills to drive actionable insights.

  • Proven ability to engage cross-functional teams, influence strategy, and solve complex problems collaboratively.

  • Creative acumen for writing effective strategy briefs and measuring creative success.

Preferred Experience (Nice-to-Haves)

  • Familiarity with tools such as Netbase, Bazaarvoice, Adobe Analytics, DOMO, Greenfield, Excel, PowerPoint/Keynote, Quid, Respondology, Sprnklr, and URL metrics platforms.

  • Strong understanding of guest engagement and sentiment analysis within retail environments.

  • Experience with enterprise-level social reporting and insights delivery.
