Senior Field Service Engineer – RUPS Systems & Power Quality Solutions

Location: Remote – Travel Required Across North America

Job Type: Full-time

Reports to: Field Service Director / Power Quality Solutions Leader

Job Summary:

National Power, LLC is seeking a highly skilled Senior Field Service Engineer with a focus on Rotary UPS (RUPS) systems, power quality technologies, and customer-centric service delivery. This dynamic role combines advanced technical field service expertise with client relationship management, working to deliver high-performance power solutions to mission-critical facilities including data centers, hospitals, industrial sites, and utility-scale environments.

In this role, you will lead system integration, start-ups, preventative maintenance, and technical support activities, while also contributing to business development by identifying customer needs, offering tailored solutions, and supporting strategic growth. You will serve as a technical liaison for our clients, ensuring seamless implementation and operational excellence for all RUPS-related services and products.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Field Service & Power System Integration

  • Lead on-site commissioning, start-up, and preventative maintenance for RUPS systems, including electrical infrastructure and facility integration.

  • Conduct system testing, troubleshooting, and validation (load bank testing, grounding, synchronization, protective relays, etc.).

  • Provide expert technical support during new installations, retrofits, and system upgrades.

  • Resolve complex issues involving generators, flywheels, switchgear, PLCs, and control systems.

  • Maintain compliance with safety protocols (OSHA 10/30, NFPA 70E) and all industry standards.

  • Develop and submit accurate reports, documentation, and quality control assessments post-site visits.

  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and service teams to resolve product or installation issues.

  • Train junior field technicians on proper RUPS startup, maintenance, and troubleshooting practices.

Business Development & Customer Relationship Management

  • Actively identify new opportunities for Power Quality and UPS services to expand the customer base.

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, understanding their evolving needs and delivering tailored solutions.

  • Represent the company’s technical expertise during client meetings, site visits, and presentations.

  • Support sales teams with technical insights, ensuring customer requirements are understood and met.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in Power Quality market trends, technologies, and competitive positioning.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to identify new sales channels, partnerships, and revenue opportunities.

  • Drive customer satisfaction by ensuring high-quality service delivery, responsiveness, and issue resolution.

Technical Skills & Competencies:

  • Proficiency in power systems PLC programming, ladder logic, and industrial control protocols (Modbus/TCP, OPC, DNP3, etc.).

  • Experienced with diagnostic tools: oscilloscopes, megohmmeters, Loop2k, Modscan.

  • Strong knowledge of electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, and system performance analysis.

  • Familiarity with automation programming languages (IEC, Python, Java, SQL, HTML).

  • Skilled in troubleshooting and resolving issues remotely or in-person.

  • Ability to communicate technical information to diverse audiences effectively.

Qualifications:

  • BSEE or MSEE required; Professional Engineer (PE) License is a plus.

  • Minimum 4 years experience with RUPS-UPS power systems and as an electrical engineer.

  • Proven success in technical sales, customer engagement, and account development (10+ years preferred for sales-focused experience).

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and technical reporting.

  • OSHA 10/30 and NFPA 70E certifications required.

  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs and work in field conditions (hot/cold environments, construction sites).

  • Travel: 100%; flexibility to travel across North America for customer support and project execution.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary Range: $110,000 – $170,000 annually (including commission for sales performance).

  • Performance-based incentives and commission structure for revenue growth and customer expansion.
