Position: Critical Power Technician – UPS Systems

Overview

The Critical Power Group at M.C. Dean maintains and services Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems, batteries, and critical infrastructure equipment. Our technicians are factory-trained by leading manufacturers (e.g., APC, Liebert, Toshiba, Mitsubishi, Eaton) and provide preventive maintenance, emergency service, and technical support at high-profile government, institutional, and commercial sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, testing, and emergency service on UPS systems and batteries.

  • Diagnose, repair, and replace batteries and other system components.

  • Use test equipment (e.g., digital multi-meters, infrared cameras, oscilloscopes).

  • Respond to emergency calls (24/7 availability when on-call).

  • Maintain tools, vehicles, and company-issued equipment.

  • Complete reports (e.g., service, time, and expense reports) accurately and on time.

  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, company protocols, and industry regulations.

  • Coordinate on-site work with subcontractors as necessary.

  • Provide technical assistance and training to customers and junior technicians.

  • Travel regionally; overnight travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 7+ years of OEM or field service experience with major UPS brands (Vertiv, APC, Schneider, etc.).

  • Education: AA/BS in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or equivalent military training.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Expertise in UPS systems, batteries, switchgear, panels, ATSs, and generators.

    • Proficiency with NEC code, schematics, diagnostics, and inspection techniques.

    • Skilled in Microsoft Office and equipment-specific software.

  • Certifications (Preferred/Required):

    • Manufacturer maintenance courses and power quality certification.

  • Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to lift 50 lbs, work at heights up to 60 ft, and perform physically demanding tasks.

    • Good vision (corrected acceptable), color perception, and hearing required.

Supervisory Controls

Work is conducted independently under general supervision, with assignments provided by regional managers or team leads. The technician is responsible for planning and executing work within company policies and procedures.

Position: UPS Store – Customer Service Representative

Overview

We are seeking a motivated, friendly, and dependable Customer Service Representative to join our busy UPS Store team. This is a full-time position, including weekends. Candidates must thrive in a fast-paced, retail environment. Experience at a UPS Store is a plus, but not required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide outstanding customer service in a high-volume retail setting.

  • Assist customers with shipping, receiving, packaging, and printing services.

  • Handle transactions accurately using POS systems.
