Job Opportunity Overview

General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) is seeking experienced professionals with expertise in United States Postal Service (USPS) systems and integration, particularly those familiar with Informed Visibility Mail Tracking and Reporting (IV-MTR) and related USPS API services. This opportunity is part of our ongoing efforts to support the USPS Office of Inspector General (OIG) with technology and business solutions across various domains.

About the USPS OIG OCIO Program at GDIT

As a key incumbent supporting USPS OIG, GDIT provides IT and business professionals across six key service areas:

  1. Software & Data Engineering (SDE)

    • .NET development, full-stack solutions, custom applications, data engineering, and ETL processes using Azure SQL, Synapse, and Data Factory.

  2. IT Operations

    • Infrastructure support including networks, remote access, enterprise servers, MDM, Office 365, and Azure services.

  3. IT Security

    • Cloud security architecture, threat detection, SOC monitoring, vulnerability management, and secure development.

  4. Enterprise Services

    • Financial and contract management for CIO functions, IT service desk operations, and user support.

  5. Enterprise Business Solutions

    • Power Platform development, Power BI, ITSM solutions, SharePoint, RPA, AI/ML integration, and web development with Drupal.

  6. Research and Insights Solution Center (RISC)

    • Data analytics, insight generation, data governance, and advanced research for postal operations.

Featured Role: USPS Integration Specialist (IV-MTR Focus)

Location: Remote or Arlington, VA
Security Clearance: Public Trust (U.S. residency required for the past 5 years)

Key Responsibilities:

  • IV-MTR Integration: Design, develop, and implement USPS Informed Visibility integrations for real-time mail tracking.

  • USPS API Services: Integrate USPS APIs for Address Verification, Label Generation, Package Tracking, and Rate Calculations.

  • Customization & Optimization: Tailor USPS integrations to business needs, ensuring optimal performance and data accuracy.

  • Troubleshooting & Support: Provide expert-level diagnosis and resolution of USPS integration issues.

  • Documentation: Create and maintain clear setup, configuration, and troubleshooting documentation.

  • Collaboration: Work with internal teams (development, PM, operations) to align integration solutions with strategic goals.

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience with USPS IV-MTR and related USPS services (e.g., ACS, Rate Calculation).

  • Proficiency in RESTful APIs, JSON/XML, and USPS data/reporting structures.

  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines efficiently.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with additional USPS APIs and logistics systems.

  • Familiarity with FedEx, UPS, or other shipping carrier integrations.

  • Knowledge of e-commerce platforms and shipping solutions.
