Job Title: Remote Clinical Pharmacist – Data Entry & Patient Care (Walgreens)

Location: Remote | Type: Full-Time | Salary: Competitive, based on experience

Job Summary

As a Remote Clinical Pharmacist at Walgreens, you will play a critical role in improving patient health outcomes by executing pharmacy intervention programs, supporting direct patient care services, and ensuring regulatory compliance. This position combines clinical expertise with administrative responsibilities, including remote prescription processing, data entry, and patient outreach. You will work closely with patients, physicians, and insurance providers, acting as a trusted liaison while supporting pharmacy operations from a remote setting.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Pharmacy & Patient Care

  • Implement and manage direct patient care programs such as Medication Therapy Management, Immunization Services, and Adherence Programs.

  • Conduct drug utilization reviews, monitor patient therapy, and provide individualized patient consultations.

  • Act as a subject matter expert, providing clinical guidance to pharmacists, field leadership, and patients.

  • Foster relationships with the medical community, supporting Walgreens' commitment to community healthcare.

Pharmacy Operations & Data Entry

  • Accurately enter patient demographics, prescriptions, and insurance information into the data system.

  • Handle prescription processing, exceptions, and back-end operations such as order picking, packing, and manifesting.

  • Support pharmacist call-backs and ensure patient safety and satisfaction through quality assurance checks.

  • Manage insurance plans, coordination of benefits, and audit test claims for new patients or referrals.

Compliance & Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local pharmacy regulations, HIPAA guidelines, and internal SOPs.

  • Monitor and improve clinical and operational processes, driving compliance and quality outcomes.

  • Participate in specialized programs (e.g., Pharma Support, Disease State Programs), ensuring proper handling and execution.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD).

  • Current and active Pharmacist license issued by appropriate state authority.

  • At least 1 year of experience in a retail pharmacy, PBM, healthcare, specialty pharmacy, or call center environment.

  • Experience with confidential information handling and customer service best practices.

  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and travel up to 10%.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and familiarity with pharmacy software systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Willingness to obtain additional state licenses as needed.

  • Knowledge of insurance plans and pharmacy claim processes.

  • Familiarity with systems such as Intercom, Promise, Plus, or similar pharmacy platforms.
