We are committed to creating and maintaining a secure environment that allows our team members to focus on their work without fear of harm or disruption.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>About the Role</strong></p><p style="min-height:1.5em">As the Corporate Security Professional based in our San Francisco office you will lead day-to-day security operations in and support our broader physical security strategies throughout the region. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that OpenAI’s security posture remains strong and adaptive in a fast-evolving environment.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>This position requires hands-on experience in corporate security operations. This role typically involves four to five days in the office each week.</strong></p><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>In this role, you will:</strong></p><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>Office Security: </strong>Develop, implement, and manage physical security measures, including policies, systems, and vendor relationships, to protect employees and visitors in the San Francisco office.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>VIP Visit & Executive Protection Coordination:</strong></p><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Plan, lead, and execute executive protection coordination for VIPs, ensuring their safety during visits or events on campus.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Collaborate with cross-functional teams (workplace, executive business partners, Legal, HR) to manage complex security logistics.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Work closely with internal and external security providers and law enforcement to ensure comprehensive protection coverage.</p></li></ul></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>Government and Delegation Coordination:</strong></p><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Lead coordination efforts with government officials and high-level delegations, ensuring secure access and compliance with relevant protocols.</p></li></ul></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>Event Security Management:</strong></p><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Develop, implement, and manage security plans for small to large-scale events, ensuring safety for all attendees and staff.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Coordinate with event organizers, workplace teams, and vendors to execute comprehensive security protocols.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Provide exceptional service to VIPs, guests, and delegations, ensuring a positive visitor experience.</p></li></ul></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>Partnerships & Stakeholder Engagement:</strong> Establish and strengthen relationships with local law enforcement agencies, peer security organizations, and other external partners to stay current on emerging risks.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>Policy Development & Compliance:</strong> Contribute to the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), training programs, and compliance initiatives, ensuring all protocols meet high-quality standards and legal requirements.</p></li></ul><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong> You might thrive in this role if you:</strong></p><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>Professional Experience: </strong>3+ years in corporate security and/or have a BA/BS degree, or law enforcement/military experience.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>Physical security:</strong> Operations skills relevant to the safeguarding of a large office.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>Technical Experience:</strong> Implementing and optimizing advanced security technologies—visitor management and access control.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>Vendor Management:</strong> A successful track record of coordination with 3 rd party security vendors.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>Relationship Building:</strong> Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with internal teams and external agencies, forging strong, collaborative relationships.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>Operational Leadership:</strong> Proven skill in creating, revising, and executing SOPs to ensure consistent and efficient security practices, alongside training programs for both security personnel and broader teams.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>Adaptability & Resilience:</strong> Comfortable working in a dynamic environment, swiftly pivoting in response to emerging threats or organizational changes.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>Travel:</strong> Ability and willingness to travel to regional offices also to support various events a few times a year or as needed globally.</p></li></ul><p style="min-height:1.5em"></p><p style="min-height:1.5em"></p><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>About OpenAI</strong></p><p style="min-height:1.5em">OpenAI is an AI research and deployment company dedicated to ensuring that general-purpose artificial intelligence benefits all of humanity.
